1 Nephi 1:1

I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents,

therefore I was taught somewhat in all the learning of my father;

and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days,

nevertheless, having been highly favored of the Lord in all my days;

yea, having had a great knowledge of the goodness and the mysteries of God,

therefore I make a record of my proceedings in my days.

having been - 2 occurrences in 1 verse - 1 Nephi 1:1

DEFINITION

having:

having been: For context - “have been” is simple present perfect tense form used to express completed action - "having been" is the past participle form and used to emphasize that a first action has been completed before the second action begins.

Note: You may want to look into instances of what is referred to as "the historical past" or "the dramatic present" - possibly involving the phrase "having been" - there may be some kind of comparison that could be made in regards to the writing style of the Gospel of St. Mark, which apparently is known for mixing different tenses. Mark is described by as frequently using the 'present tense fo the past" - perhaps Nephi did something similar? (or not). Just something to look into.
