1 Nephi 1:7

And it came to pass that he returned to his own house at Jerusalem;

and he cast himself upon his bed,

being overcome with the Spirit and the things which he had seen.

he was carried away in a vision,

even that he saw the heavens open,

and he thought he saw God sitting upon his throne,

surrounded with numberless concourses of angels

in the attitude of singing and praising their God.

and held him, that he should not flee.

if he would go down in the wilderness with us.

And it came to pass that Zoram did take courage at the words which I spake.

Now Zoram was the name of the servant;

and he promised that he would go down into the wilderness unto our father.

Yea, and he also made an oath unto us

that he would tarry with us from that time forth.

Now we were desirous that he should tarry with us for this cause,

that the Jews might not know concerning our flight into the wilderness,

lest they should pursue us and destroy us.

Behold thou hast led us forth from the land of our inheritance,

and my sons are no more, and we perish in the wilderness.

upon the plates of brass a genealogy of his fathers;

wherefore he knew that he was a descendant of Joseph;

yea, even that Joseph who was the son of Jacob,

who was sold into Egypt, and who was preserved by the hand of the Lord,

that he might preserve his father, Jacob, and all his household

from perishing with famine.
