And now I, Nephi, proceed to give an account upon these plates
of my proceedings, and my reign and ministry;
wherefore, to proceed with mine account,
I must speak somewhat of the things of my father, and also of my brethren.

For behold, it came to pass after my father had made an end
of speaking the words of his dream, and also of exhorting them to all diligence,
he spake unto them concerning the Jews —

according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God —
because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb,
an exceedingly great many do stumble,
yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them.

And now I make an end of speaking concerning the things
which I saw while I was carried away in the spirit;
and if all the things which I saw are not written,
the things which I have written are true.
And thus it is.
