and it came to pass that the king caused

that his guards should surround Abinadi and take him;

and they bound him and cast him into prison.

Mosiah 19:1

and it came to pass that the army of the king returned,

having searched in vain for the people of the Lord.

and it came to pass that the Lamanites did pursue them,

and did overtake them, and began to slay them.

and he said unto them:

Let us go forth to meet my people, without arms;

and I swear unto you with an oath that my people shall not slay thy people.

And it came to pass that

the people began to murmur with the king because of their afflictions;

and they began to be desirous to go against them to battle.

And they did afflict the king sorely with their complaints;

therefore he granted unto them that they should do according to their desires.

Mosiah 21:8

and it came to pass that the Lamanites did beat them,

and drove them back, and slew many of them.
