Alma 32:24, 42,

Alma 34:5, 11, 12, 33

Alma 30:13

O ye that are bound down under a foolish and a vain hope,

why do ye yoke yourselves with such foolish things?

Why do ye look for a Christ?

For no man can know of anything which is to come.

Alma 30:28

Yea, they durst not make use of that which is their own

lest they should offend their priests,

who do yoke them according to their desires,

and have brought them to believe, by their traditions and their dreams

and their whims and their visions and their pretended mysteries,

that they should, if they did not do according to their words,

offend some unknown being, who they say is God —

a being who never has been seen or known,

who never was nor ever will be.

Alma 32:24

And now, my beloved brethren, as ye have desired to know of me

what ye shall do because ye are afflicted and cast out —

now I do not desire that ye should suppose that I mean to judge you

only according to that which is true —

Alma 32:42

And because of your diligence and your faith and your patience with the word

in nourishing it, that it may take root in you,

behold, by and by ye shall pluck the fruit thereof, which is most precious,

which is sweet above all that is sweet,

and which is white above all that is white,

yea, and pure above all that is pure;

and ye shall feast upon this fruit even until ye are filled,

that ye hunger not, neither shall ye thirst.

Alma 34:5

And we have beheld that the great question which is in your minds

is whether the word be in the Son of God, or whether there shall be no Christ.

Alma 34:11

Now there is not any man that can sacrifice his own blood

which will atone for the sins of another.

Now, if a man murdereth,

behold will our law, which is just, take the life of his brother?

I say unto you, Nay.

Alma 34:12

But the law requireth the life of him who hath murdered;

therefore there can be nothing which is short of an infinite atonement

which will suffice for the sins of the world.

Alma 34:33

And now, as I said unto you before,

as ye have had so many witnesses,

therefore, I beseech of you

that ye do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end;

for after this day of life, which is given us to prepare for eternity,

behold, if we do not improve our time while in this life,

then cometh the night of darkness wherein there can be no labor performed.
