Helaman 11:4

O Lord, do not suffer that this people shall be destroyed by the sword;

but O Lord, rather let there be a famine in the land,

to stir them up in remembrance of the Lord their God,

and perhaps they will repent and turn unto thee.

Helaman 11:16

And now, O Lord, wilt thou turn away thine anger,

and try again if they will serve thee?

And if so, O Lord, thou canst bless them

according to thy words which thou hast said.

Helaman 12:3

And thus we see that

except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions,

yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror,

and with famine and with all manner of pestilence,

they will not remember him.

Helaman 12:6

Behold, they do not desire

that the Lord their God, who hath created them, should rule and reign over them;

notwithstanding his great goodness and his mercy towards them,

they do set at naught his counsels,

and they will not that he should be their guide.
